Instructions:
- Prepare the Apple Mixture:
- In a small bowl, toss the diced apples with the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- Make the Bread Batter:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Assemble the Bread:
- Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
- Layer half of the apple mixture on top of the batter.
- Add the remaining bread batter, spreading it carefully, and top with the rest of the apple mixture.
- Gently press the apples into the batter with a spatula or spoon.
- Bake:
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Add the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread for a sweet finishing touch.
Tips and Variations:
- Add Nuts: For extra texture and flavor, mix in chopped walnuts or pecans with the apple layer.
- Use Different Fruits: Swap the apples for pears or peaches for a delightful twist.
- Make It Ahead: This bread tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld together. Store it in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
